Day 3 -- super lazy and quiet day in the house

Shortly after I posted Day 2 last night I received the email from the Law School Admission Council reporting my unofficial LSAT score.  I'm not thrilled with a 162, but I'm not disappointed, either.  For this particular LSAT test, it was in the 85th percentile.  It's a comfortable score for most of the schools to which I am applying, but I'm still no shoe in!  What a relief, though!

It occurred to me that posting my Everyday picture would likely come off as moderate to severe vanity if the reader doesn't know what Everyday is.  It's an iOS app for taking a picture of one's face every day (or week or month) which also compiles a time lapsed video.  It was a fairly popular YouTube sensation a few years back, now with thousands of [Insert Name] Takes a Picture of [Him/Her]self Everyday for a [Period of Time].  I uploaded my "1 Year of George III" video in November.

Juan Enriquez is a super interesting dude.  I want to share this TED Talk of his asking, "Will our kids be a different species?"  Really, an incredible thinker.  I literally dream most nights about the future he describes.

Day 2 -- returned home from Chicago overnight

Day 2 of my Try Something New journey, day 2 of 2014, and day 1 one drink a new beer on three consecutive Thursdays.  The last may need further explanation.  I plan to earn the New Brew Thursday badge within the Untappd smartphone app, which is a social network for beer drinkers.  Today, I checked in G-Thing by Magic Hat.

My daily dose of TED comes from Marco Annunziata: Welcome to the age of the industrial internet.  Those of you that know me well know I particularly love thinking and reading about technology and the future.  Actually, those of you that have only ever spoken with me in passing probably know this.  This video isn't super technical - it just gets the mind to imagining.

I am a particularly big fan of The Office.  It is practically the only category my youngest sister Evie and I play in QuizUp.  Maybe I'll gain the upper hand on a Creed Bratton trivia question after reading Creed Bratton (character).

Day 1 - at the Shedd Aquarium

This is my inaugural blog post.  Over the years, my varying interests have often led me to blogs written by similarly interested people.  I've often thought keeping a blog would be fun, but have been deterred by fear that it would come off conceited.  

Be gone, Trepidation!  Per Matt Cutts's TED Talk on trying something new for 30 days (link below), I am starting a blog for the month of January.  My New Year's resolution for 2014 is to try something new for each of the next 12 months -- I'll keep you updated as I brainstorm the 11 other new things.

I imagine I'll share at least one TED Talk, Wikipedia article, Spanish word of the day, and maybe my Everyday photo in my daily posts.

As I write this particular entry, I'm sitting in the Bubble Net Cafe at the Shedd Aquarium with the family plus Mariah plus Barbie minus Maggie.  (Maggie's in Cancun with the Zappia family.)  Pics below.
